Pros

The Wave Lightning RX3 fit very well even for those who have special cases, like a user who has narrow feet that widens when setting them down. Sizes come a half-size smaller, though, so keep this in mind when ordering online.

These shoes are so comfortable, you could sleep in them. With a firm and sturdy fit on the feet, you feel like you’re wearing nothing on your feet when wearing these. Being lightweight, these won’t hold you back while playing your sport. Jump and run all you can, they keep up with each and every movement you perform. Being active has never been this easy.

Because they are comfortable and lightweight, they are pleasant on the feet even after twelve hours of wear. Sometimes you will have to join in tournaments and long-hour sports activities, but no worries because the Wave Lightning RX3 will not fail you.

With its flexible nature, you get to enjoy every hour of intense games with proper support and cushioning. Just because they were not able to get a fancy name for their rubber soles doesn’t mean they are not as effective!

The rubber soles of the Lightning RX3 make for an improved traction grip on all indoor surfaces. This allows for a more confident and rapid movements. You only focus on all aspects of your game and nothing else.

They come at a relatively affordable price, compared with other sports shoes of its range. You don’t have to spend on court shoes that cost $100 if you are looking for support, comfort, and flexibility; you have it all here with Mizuno Wave Lightning RX3, at a much more reasonable price.

Cons

One customer complained that these shoes are very stiff and tight. This may be because these shoes run a little smaller than standard sizing, so keep this in mind. As a volleyball player, it is important that you have a lot of motion in your feet since the sport involve a lot of lower body movements to keep your balance, especially in situations where you have to chase a ball that is a bit too far from your typical arms’ reach.

You might have a break-in period of at least a few days before being totally comfortable in these shoes. Because of this, you may get blisters and some soreness when first wearing these, so it’s not advisable to wear them first during a sporting event you are going to play in.

What you should do, however, is to have a good backup pair of shoes in mind so whenever you feel that you are too sore, you have another pair to wear just for that occasion. Since this is a bit costly to do, it might throw off a lot of people who were planning to buy this pair as a one-pair-for-all situation type of shoes.

Even though this has a thick padding, one user felt that there was not enough cushion and support when playing rough sports. Rapid movements cause pain, and long hours of wear will definitely tire the limbs. This is all relative, of course, as a number of people have supported the Lightning RX3’s claim of comfortability.

Verdict

A pair of shoes that is worth comparing this with is the ASICS Women’s Gel Tactic Volleyball Shoes. Like the Lightning RX3, this has a thicker cushion than usual, but Gel Tactic can credit this to two layers of gel cushioning for much better shock absorption.

ASICS Gel Tactic also features a toe guard that helps with protecting the toes of the shoes, especially from movements where you have to drag your foot when playing. Another advantage, is that it is also little bit cheaper than the Lightning RX3, so you can spend around the same price, but you get more benefits. In this case, we highly recommend the ASICS Women’s Gel Tactic Volleyball Shoes over the Mizuno Wave Lightning RX3.

Another one from Mizuno that we think is a good option is the Wave Lightning Z Volleyball Shoes. They are true to size, so they are already better in this aspect, in comparison to the RX3.

It provides the innovative technology of Dynamation flex grooves for agility and stability while playing. They do cost a little more, but you definitely get your money’s worth. For this reason, it might be more practical to choose the Lightning Z.
